The Tiger uses a Rondo format to tell the story of this majestic big cat. The opening sets the stage: suspense swirls in the air as we are transported to a land far, far away. The music prowls, growls, purrs, sprints, leaps, and shows off the player’s elegance, dexterity, power, and expression. Note that this piece was inspired by Franz Schubert’s Impromptu Op. 90 No. 4 - a great piece to work towards after studying “The Tiger!”
