Starlings are unique in the animal kingdom for a behavior that is known as “murmurating.” Murmurations are huge (as many as 750,000) groups of starlings fly in shape-shifting clouds. Resembling ribbons weaving and smoke swirling, these intricate formations not only make us wonder why they do it, but how they do it… without flying into each other!
