Fairytales and legends have often associated midnight with supernatural occurrences. Midnight Magic embodies the tranquility of the night through nostalgic jazz-inspired harmonies. The lilting spirit of the left-hand accompaniment is complemented with long legato phrases in the right. A contrasting middle section is sweeter and more consonant. The opening material returns, this time an octave higher, giving the impression of a magical transformation as we close out the piece.
